One month photos

I picked a few photos to share from when we took Noah to get his one month pictures. They had to come up with some creative poses for us since he was asleep the entire time. I couldn't resist buying a bunch of them...afterall, he's only a month old once right?
(Edit note: Don't wear a checkered shirt when taking pictures or it turns out looking psychedelic on camera)

His head was buried in this one but I still couldn't resist purchasing it!

One month old

Noah is one month old! To celebrate we played some on Noah's gym mat. Yesterday we went and had Noah's one month pictures taken. So cute! I can't wait to show them to you once I get them. He was asleep for the whole photo shoot but I figured I'd take what I could get and would much rather him be sleeping than crying.

Today is my first day with it just being Noah and I. I've already emailed Lucas a photo to show him what we were up to this morning and that we miss him. I was spoiled having Lucas home for a few weeks to spend with the family and always miss him when he's away at work.

Growing and learning

I love to peek in while Noah is sleeping and see what cute position he is in. We often find him with his arms up like this and all stretched out. It's funny how now we have the camera always out and ready to catch any shot we claim as "adorable."

This week I finally drove for the first time since my surgery and took Noah out by myself. It was quite a stressful thought for me at first but went really well. I ventured out to meet a friend of mine for lunch who also has a little boy just eight weeks older than Noah. We've been really blessed to have a handful of baby boys recently born among several of our friends. Lots of playmates for Noah!

Today Noah discovered the moving leaves and birds above his swing. It's so much fun for us to see him discover something new every day.

More from our little guy

Noah loves to smile at us. I keep trying to catch it on camera but always seem to just miss it. This photo catches him in the act a little bit.

Three weeks old

I realized I've been quite tardy at updating the blog lately. It's so hard to believe Noah is already three weeks old! I get so excited to see him learning and growing and then at the same time my heart aches to get those early days back just when he was born. Time is just going by too quickly.

We loved having Noah here for Christmas and getting to have my parents here to join us was a special treat. While Noah was mostly in good spirits, I thought this photo was too funny to not put on here. Wouldn't you feel this way if you had to wear reindeer ears too???

Here is Noah and my dad asleep. How sweet.

Our sweet baby boy

Well he's here! Noah David Johnson. He arrived on Friday, Dec. 14 at 11:52a.m. (9 days early). My delivery story is rather long so I won't write it all here but will tell you individually if you want. After complications I ended up having to have a c-section. Once Noah arrived I had more complications and was in surgery for two more hours while the doctors worked on me.

Noah weighed 7lbs 12.5 oz, 20 inches long and is beautiful! He has a very sweet temperment. I think the Lord let me have such a good baby to give me a chance to recover from the surgery. Nursing has gone extremely well also. We think we've even got him on a 3-hour schedule already, hooray!

Progress being made

One of the neatest things about being pregnant during Christmas time is hearing the story of Jesus' birth and just envisioning what Mary must have gone through. I couldn't imagine Lucas telling me right now that I am going to need to ride a donkey just when I'm close to giving birth!

I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I'm now 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. I realize that doesn't tell me much about when this baby will be arriving but it's nice to know that there is progress being made!

We've been keeping pretty busy lately with Christmas parties, nesting and just lots of random things. Lucas surprised me and took work off on Wednesday so we could just spend the day together. It made me even more excited for the time he'll have off with our family after the baby arrives. My mom flies into Phoenix this Saturday and will be here for the next three weeks! I'm looking forward to her being here and my dad coming over Christmas.

Hopefully the next time I post it will mean a baby has arrived! We can't wait to make that big announcement.
