Home grown

We've been busy the past few days with Lucas' parents and grandfather coming to visit and meet Noah for the first time. Noah showed off by moving around on his play mat for them and showing them all of the different sounds he could make with his mouth.

I've avoided for the past month trying to get into my pre-pregnancy jeans in fear of being depressed that I wouldn't be able to get into them. Well, I'm happy to report that it's been a month since I had Noah and I'm back to my regular size and can actually fit into my normal jeans! Hooray! I do have to say though my body definitely didn't go back the way it used to be. Sigh.

I definitely know I've entered motherhood as I went out the other day without looking in the mirror before I left, and when I came back home I caught sight of myself and noticed I had baby mouth markings all over my black sweatshirt. The worst part of it was that I just shrugged my shoulders like it was nothing new. Another sigh.

I couldn't resist putting this photo on the blog. Home grown and proud of it.

Asleep on the job

While Noah was supposed to be working on strengthening his neck muscles during wake time, I found him asleep on the job. Oh well, he's had a hard day.

We went for his one month appointment this morning (it was actually a week and a half after he is one month old but who's counting). Noah is one big boy! He weighs 11 lbs. 7 oz. which puts him in the 90th percentile for his weight. He's definitely taking after his daddy. He is 21 3/4" long and is in the 50th percentile for his length. Now I need to do some strength training if I'm going to continue caring this boy around for much longer. His little chubby cheeks are just so darn cute though.

One month photos

I picked a few photos to share from when we took Noah to get his one month pictures. They had to come up with some creative poses for us since he was asleep the entire time. I couldn't resist buying a bunch of them...afterall, he's only a month old once right?
(Edit note: Don't wear a checkered shirt when taking pictures or it turns out looking psychedelic on camera)

His head was buried in this one but I still couldn't resist purchasing it!

One month old

Noah is one month old! To celebrate we played some on Noah's gym mat. Yesterday we went and had Noah's one month pictures taken. So cute! I can't wait to show them to you once I get them. He was asleep for the whole photo shoot but I figured I'd take what I could get and would much rather him be sleeping than crying.

Today is my first day with it just being Noah and I. I've already emailed Lucas a photo to show him what we were up to this morning and that we miss him. I was spoiled having Lucas home for a few weeks to spend with the family and always miss him when he's away at work.

Growing and learning

I love to peek in while Noah is sleeping and see what cute position he is in. We often find him with his arms up like this and all stretched out. It's funny how now we have the camera always out and ready to catch any shot we claim as "adorable."

This week I finally drove for the first time since my surgery and took Noah out by myself. It was quite a stressful thought for me at first but went really well. I ventured out to meet a friend of mine for lunch who also has a little boy just eight weeks older than Noah. We've been really blessed to have a handful of baby boys recently born among several of our friends. Lots of playmates for Noah!

Today Noah discovered the moving leaves and birds above his swing. It's so much fun for us to see him discover something new every day.

More from our little guy

Noah loves to smile at us. I keep trying to catch it on camera but always seem to just miss it. This photo catches him in the act a little bit.

Three weeks old

I realized I've been quite tardy at updating the blog lately. It's so hard to believe Noah is already three weeks old! I get so excited to see him learning and growing and then at the same time my heart aches to get those early days back just when he was born. Time is just going by too quickly.

We loved having Noah here for Christmas and getting to have my parents here to join us was a special treat. While Noah was mostly in good spirits, I thought this photo was too funny to not put on here. Wouldn't you feel this way if you had to wear reindeer ears too???

Here is Noah and my dad asleep. How sweet.
